Whats happened this week (7/8)

HEY GUYS! Returning from my Baldurs Gate 3 cave to get some news out for you all. We’ve got a really random mix of things for you all this week so buckle up:

GTA 6 COULD INCLUDE ROLE-PLAYING ONLINE FEATURES:

According to some GTA Forums, and well respected insider and leaker ‘Tez2’, players have come across some interesting scripts in previous Rockstar Games titles. Notably Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 and the similarities between them have led some players to speculate on what the future of Rockstar games might hold. This may seem a little farfetched, but Rockstar do have a habit of incrementally including features from previous Rockstar games in their latest releases, and GTA 6 will be no exception. Apparently GTA Online currently has scripts being made with creator tools in mind, which has lead people to believe that later releases of GTA Online and furthermore GTA 6 will include some form of NPC control for online gameplay, allowing hosts and admins to control the GTA world just that touch more (hopefully without the need for any mods, meaning console admins have a lot more control at their fingertips too!). The scrips are supposedly allowing a variety of enhancements, such as character behaviours, spawning in characters with specific weapons, and so on. Given the recent boom in popularity with GTA Role Playing servers and players, it would seem smart for Rockstar and Take Two to start thinking about the possibilities of including features targeted towards these players.

KAI CENAT BREAKS SILENCE ON GIVEAWAYS THAT LED TO NYC RIOTS:

On August 10th, Kai Cenat went live on Twitch to address the recent mayhem that went down in New York the week prior on August 4th. Being the most watched streamer on the platform since the start of this year, Kai has exploded in popularity (especially with younger demographics), and assuming to stay on top of his perch Kai thought what better way to maintain viewers than to do a live giveaway in person through the streets of NYC. Kai and his friend “Fanum” told their fan base that they would be holding an in person giveaway near Union Square, which quickly turned sour as an estimated crowd of over 2000 fans gathered in the streets, which subsequently got the attention of the NYC Police Department. NYPD Chief of Department Jefferet Maddrey stated in a press conference shortly after the riots were wrapped up that several people were injured, with some actually having to be admitted to hospital due to burns from flares and fireworks, as well as broken bones. Police officers were also reportedly injured, and offices attempted to disperse and arrest members of the crowd.

Cenat stated that he wont be streaming all that much in the near future, as he prepares for his upcoming court dates where he has been charged with inciting a riot. Cenat is due back in NYC for his first court appearance on August 16th.

THE SUCCESSOR TO LANCE REDDICKS ‘ZAVALA’ HAS BEEN FOUND:

Bungie has today announced the actor that has been chosen to replace the late Lance Reddick as Zavala in Destiny going forward. Long time Hollywood and video game voice actor Keith David has successfully been given the role of Zavala going forward, releasing a video to his fans on X assuring them that the role is in good hands. Bungie have said that going forward Davids voice will be heard in the role of Zavala, starting in the upcoming expansion Final Shape and in future content. They assured fans that Reddicks original voice lines will not be retroactively replaced, something they have previously done with Peter Dinklages lines as The Ghost.

Honestly, I can’t think of a better actor to replace the role. I’m very sure that David will do all he can to make Lance proud, and bring the same valour that he originally did to the role.

BALDURS GATE 3 NOW SITS ATOP TEARS OF THE KINGDOM:

Larian Studios monstrous Baldurs Gate 3 recently had its full release, to much fan acclaim. So much so, that it currently sits at a whopping 97% on Metacritic, ever so slightly beating out the previous holder of the #1 place, Tears of the Kingdom, which is currently on 96%. I myself have been absolutely enthralled with BG3 this past week, which is honestly quite rare for me. Usually, RPG games end up boring me to no end, but there is just so much good story telling and writing that its kept be glued to my monitor. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone that wants to dive headfirst into a fleshed out fantasy world, if you’re interesting in Dungeons and Dragons (its set in the same world), or if you’re just after a new time sink (this is a massive time killer, you’ve been warned).
